Buff Orpington

The Buff Orpington is a friendly, golden feathered heritage breed chicken. It is known for its calm temperament which makes it suitably matched to young families and small farms. Originating from England in the late 1800’s it is a prized dual purpose breed that lays cream to light brown eggs. It is a larger bird with fluffy plumage making a perfect combination for raising chicks and boy do they love to have babies!! I will often tell people that visit the farm that amongst my other breeds I may have 2 or 3 go broody during a season but every single Buff Orpington girl will sit at some point. This is something to take into account when considering to add a Buff Orpington to your flock. As egg production will stop when brooding.
